Week 1
this week students had to think about thier topic that they are going to do this year so we got to look for some ideas in internet and books available in library . As for my self i am still confuse and thinking about differnet topics that i could do but i have some ideas in my mind which are "human rights, women rights in poor country such as afghanistan, iran, iraq, pakistan etc,Domestic violience, Immigration". but still i am not really sure.
Our teacher (Ms Mcinnes) introduced the research project subject for students and also she mentionad some key ideas that students could use to get better results for this year and showed some students work from last year which i think was great job done by them. she also showed us who to use the Google wounder wheel which van be vey handy for this subject becuase it breaks down your choosen topic so it wont be a big topic.
2: This week in our class students worked on the EBSCO host articles, they needed to choose five articles that are related to their topic and write one or two sentences that is intersting about the choosen article (Above is my anoteted bibilograghy).
It is devistating to know that domestic violence can lead to such a horrified situation that people can end each others life, separation, and many other distressing issues.
Week 3
1: Monday/14/02,Today our class learned about credible tuturials we learned that there are five question about a website or source to tell wheather is it credible or not? . which are who? how? why? what? and when? which is important for any research. who -
is the auther identified?
what mekes him or her an expert?
is the auther with a reputable or ganization?
can you verify the credentials or contact information?
What-
is the site intended for a perticular Audience?
What is the point of information?
is there any issue are both sides sented?
Does it provide general or coprehensive inforamtion?

When it was last updated?
If the are links to other website, do they work? Who the author is, What does the website contain, When was the page made, Why did the author chose to put this on their website, How was this page created.
2: Our class discussed the steps of the research project and the .D L S O P E are the step that we need to consider to be be able to do well in our project.
The D.L.S.O.P.E. steps are: D - Define L - Locate S - Select O - Organise P - Present E - Evaluate
2: My HYPOTHESIS is Children who witness regular acts of domestic (family) violence have greater emotional and behavioural problems than other children.
For my project I will use different types of sources such as internet, books, magazines, and of course others people’s experiences, as for my presentation I will write a report wich wil RESEARCH PROPOSAL My topic The topic that I have chosen is domestic (family) Violence, I will be focusing mainly on children and how they will be effected by this act, there are many types of domestic violence they could have long and short term effects on children ,some of the effect can also be for life time . I chose this topic because I have seen a lot of this happening and being done, from my experience male are more likely to creates this types violence in family then female, most parents are unaware that these violence can really hurt their child mentally and emotionally . I will also focus on what can be done to decrease the rate of domestic violence. The research process Our class does their journal entry on Wikispace which I think is great to keep record of what we did and will be the step for our research. For my project I will use different types of sources such as internet, books, magazines, and of course others people’s experiences, the librarian helped me with to find two books related to my topic I will interview police because they are the one who usually deals with this kind of situation I think they will also have the tally of domestic violence in Australia or even in Adelaide from I might find that during past 10 years domestic violence increasing or decreasing and why , they may also know that what problem I am also thinking to survey students in school, or may be survey my friends online for example face book and then I will produce graphs and tables from the data so the results will be clear to make any assumption about the results. But I need to ask them first if I can use the information for research project to order to make it more ethical. And I will interview one the councilor of our school about student who faces this kind of violence and does this violence effect on student school performance, If I could find someone who really experienced domestic violence who could talk about his/her feelings and if this affected them in any way will great but I dint think anyone will share this with any other person. Chosen capabilities The capability that I will focus on will be citizenship because people will be aware of domestic violence and the possible effects that it might have and they will also learn about how we can work together decrease this happening. other capability is learning as we go through this research process we will learn a lot about how to research and where research .
Week 4
The 5 WHY's
1.Why does domestic violence happen? Because the abuser often has mental illness, stress, alcohol or drugs. 2.why do they have mentall illness ,stress, alcohol. or drugs, They may have had past problems with thier family or friends. 3. Why they had problems with thier family and freinds? Evey family and freinds have small or big porblem but some cop better then other. 4.why some cope better then other? Because they can see that there are solution for every problem but some think thier is way no out this problem. 5.Why do they think there is no way out this solution? Becuase they only think about the negative side and not the positive side.

Week 6 08/03/10 (International Women's Day)
Our teacher advised that by now students must have thier interview and survey questions ready , and get some one to inetrview, i dicided to get an appointment for this weekend in police station( if i get the interview after school or during wekend i will not miss my lessons). But first i need to book an appoinment with them and ask them if it is okey with them.that followong are the questions for interview and survey. Interview Questions
What is the penalty for a domestic violence crime?
What type of counseling could be required to attend?
Can somebody be arrested for domestic abuse if the injury is minor?
since past dacate is the rate of domestic increased or decreased ,Why do you think that could have happend?
How can we all work together to decreas the rate of domestics voilence?
what are the statistics of domestic violence, Who is mostly invovled in domestic violence, and why do u think is that
Survey Questions:
Do you know anyone who have seen or experiance domestic violence?
Who will you tell if you or your mates are facing domestic violence??
Week 7
I was ubsant on friday last week. This week on friday we will have 10 minute discussion about our topic ,each student will have thier discussion individually on how they have been working??what they are doing??? what will be the next step?? and student will get time to ask questions about thier topic and how they can improve. This week i have been thinking on my discussion and in what way i can present my disscussion best , have been practicing the questions sheet that Ms Meccines gave us.
Due to some electronic problems in the school this week our classes discussion is postponed to next week monday
i got my appointment on friday lesson 5 which is on Research project time.
Week 8
22/03/11
1.Yeasterday Ms Maccines talked about ethics and its issues she mainly adressed the issues that mostly occuers during interview and surveys, this ethics are mey the questions that the person asking souldnt be that hurts the interviewee some how , as for our research project questions and surveys the teacher needs to chack them first to see weather the questions are appropreite to ask that perticular person.she said that i may not have to do the survey becuase people will not feel comfortable to talk about this topic or about thier personal life and personal matter ,she also told me that i should use secondary sources "(a secondary source is a document or recording that relates or discusses information originally presented elsewhere. A secondary source contrasts with a primary source, which is an original source of the information being discussed...)"
2.Now i need to make sure that the if i do survey the questions that i ask will not somehow hurt tha person, which of cousre will be considered as unethical. as well as the interview questions.
3.thurday
Today Ms Maccinnes said that i need to see Ms Woud because of my topic she said that i need to think about the methodology for my topic, as my hypothesis is"Children who witness regular acts of domestic (family) violence have greater emotional and behavioural problems than other children.I think they mean that how am i going to research this particular hypothesis.I have to talk to Ms woud. chilren who sees domestic violence regularly have greater emotinal and behaviour then other children.
Week 9
29/03/11
1:I got my appointment for thursday lesson 3 for my free leeson , as i can not do survey for my topic because of the ethics issue and confidenciality, i need to work on the interview questions to make it as ethical as it can really effect on my research out come. if the questions that asked was unethical the sace board will hate and of course one the worse will effect on my grades.
i thought about the thing that ms Mcinnes said about my topic, if my hypothesis is "Children who witness regular acts of domestic (family) violence have greater emotional and behavioural problems than other children. for these hypothesis i is almost imposible to find out the the emotional and bahaviour of children are due to the domestic violence fristly i can not ask people about did they experinced domestic voilence becuase it will be unethical or may hurt them some how. and say if i asked them they will not give honest answers. i was thinking to change my topic question it will the same topic but a little bit change around. may "domestic violence and the effect on children" but i need to talk to Ms Woud first. 2:Today McInnis gave a book about child abuse and the good thing about it is that it is from last year 2010, the other books that I found was from 10 years ago so I can compare the two of them it is very recent the book is called “child abuse’ by Sydney newton and Julie Garrets. One of the topic is that relates the most to my topic is “Effect of abuse” “Abuse influences how children, adolescences, and teens think, feel, and act, it can affect someone immediately, such as while the abuse is occurring, it can also affect someone long after the abuse has ended. in adulthood, someone who is being abused mat feel embarrassed .ashamed, or as if the abuse their fault.as a result they may keep the abuse to themselves .which can cause them to feel as if they are all alone .if you are being abused .you may want to protect the person who is hurti9ng you, a boy who is being abused by his father, for example may be confused about what is wrong, but loves his dad and does not want him to get into trouble.” CHILD ABUSE, Sydney newton and Julie Gerrits, Week 10 08/04/11
yesterday our teacher showed us three examples of previous work of student , each of them done great work and worked hard on thier reseach project. before i thougth that the research topic that we do must be an issue but the topic they these studnets have done is that they liked not an issue one of them made an mosaic desing for her parents and did research around that, otehr did his reach on kind of vehicale and finally he makes it that vehile he really worked hard for these.
o8/04/11 research Evaluation
1) of reasearch proceesed used .e.g books, news, interviwes,EBSCO host magazines and experts
2)of you +chosen capabilities.
3)expects of outcome +relevence to you +others
Today we had an excursion in the parks community center, it was about community service, in there i talked to a police about my research subject the topic that i have chosen and interview with police, he said that i need to write a formal letter to police officer in port adeliade or some wherasle to get permission from a police officer because the officer is the one who knows alot about this and gives concent to that.
Week 11
last saterday i sand letter to the police officer but i havn't got a reply yet wich make sme not feel good because before the end the term i want to finish my draft(1500 words report +graphs+pictures+statistics)but i can not do it without interviewing the police, and also i am interviwing the one of the school conceller but i need to ask them first.
our teacher advised that if we normalised our sentences in the Wikispace or journel it would be result in better result and it also sound more formal.
how domestic woman and children are more often the victims of domestic violence Becuase it have been a long time that i researched about my hypothesis and when Ms Woud said that it dosnt have methedology i felt davestated and confused all this time iahve been researching anf finding out thing but now i might need to change my topic totally, than i talked to Ms Mcinnnes and she hepled me to think about another hypothesis around this topic she gave idea about the folowing statment, woman and children are more often the victims of domestic violence, then i went to check with Ms Woud weather this hypothesis is right to do ahead with and contineo my research and she approved it .Yes ! . now i have find alots of stef about this one, now i feel good becuase now i know my hypothesis is approved and i can go ahead and i didnt need to change the whole topic which i think some of the students did in the class, i think one of the student was researchong on gay and lesbian topic which was said that is too contriversial for this subject.
I still didn't recieve a reply from police officer. and Ms Mccines told me that i will not able to to do my outcome draft without it so i need to wai tfor thier reply Term 2 Week 1 since i have changed my reaserch question i need to change my interview questions. interview questions; 1.How long have you been a serving police officer? I have been a police officer for about five years working at port Adelaide police station and i started on petrol and recently i have been in in family violence investigation section. 2.What is your official role/title? My official role is constable of police and i am family violence investigator. 3.I know that from my research that women statistically suffer from higher levels of domestic violence. However, do you think that men who suffer domestic violence are too 'proud' to say they are victims? i think that is certainly true on some occasion I suppose men are physically stronger than woman and they feel a little embarrassed they say they are the victim of domestic violence but obviously domestic violence can be more satele than physical violence it can be emotional and mental violence and i thing it is true. 4.Do you think that some cultural groups are hesitant in involving the police in issues of domestic violence? Yes think that is true i suppose it depends on the cultural background and believes and some cultures and believe are different from Australian culture. And behaviours which considered okay in that culture and those costume are sometimes against the law in Australia yes they do feel uncertain about contacting the police they might not know it is even against the what’s is happening to them. 5.Do you think that counselling of people who commit domestic violence is a successful tool? It certainly van is particularly the offender engages is on board so if they are wanting to engage in that counselling it certainly can be very beneficial I think if they don’t recognise that there is a problem then counselling is probably not as effective they need to recognise that their behaviour is not okay then I think counselling can be very effective. 6.Are the police told that a call out involves domestic violence? And if so do, the police treat the situation differently than 'normal' violence? When a petrol is tasked to a job they are told that it is a domestic violence if that information is passed to the call centre so sometimes they might some call that droped out and they might sand a petrol to check that might be domestic violence situation they don’t necessarily l know but usually they know that it is domestic violence situation and it is treated very seriously because domestics violence is a serious issue. And in fact an assault a that is again domestic partner is legally speaking a more serious offence then an assault again a stranger. 7.In domestic violence incidents are there different roles for male and female officers - eg female to female They are not role as such but if have a petrol pairing that you have a male and a female with in the petrol pairing that they go to the domestic violence situation then more often than not the male police officer will speak to male person and female to female person. But obviously sometime the partnership might between two female officer and might be between two male officers so obviously in that situation I it is dealed with what is most appropriate in that time. 8.Do you feel that as a community that there are things we can do to help decrease the rate of domestic violence that is not being currently done? I think an increased awareness but these are certainty being done so they are TV campaigns and they are counselling services available and are encouraged. I think they a lot being done but there could always be more services available certainly housing is always an issues for victims of domestic violence who need to flee the family home is quite often difficulty finding housing for those people particularly if they are families.
How long have you been a serving police officer?
i have been a police officer for about five years working at prot adeliade police station and i satrted on petrol and recently i ahve been in in family violence investigation section.
What is your official role/title?
my official role is constabe of police and i am family vilence investigator.
I know that from my research that women statistically suffer from higher levels of domestic violence. However, do you think that men who suffer domestic violence are too 'proud' to say they are victims?
i think that is certaily true in some ocassion I suppouse men are pshysically stronger than woman and they feel a little embarased they say they are the victome of domestic voilnce but obviously domestiv voilence can be more satale than phusical violence it can be emotinal and mental voilnce and i thing it is true.
Do you think that some cultural groups are hesitant in involving the police in issues of domestic violence?
yes think that is true i suppose it depand
Do you think that counseling of people who commit domestic violence is a successful tool?

Week 2:
I didnt got any Email back so i decided to go to the Hindly police station and ask them, Today i went there and they asked me i live they said i have to contect Port Adeliade Police Station beacuse its closest o my house and it is the bramch for domestic violence, i talked to them they said it is okey with them. Tomorrow Lori harris who is work in Domestic Violence will come to our school and i will interview her. but f
Week 13
today i had meeting with Ms Mcinnes and i showed her the video from the interview the i had from police she topld mt to edit it and cut down the unnessary nits and the questiona that i am asking, and i should answer the above interview questions from the answers that i got. as for my outcome i am a power point presentation and i will be using some of the oral but i need to edit the video.

For my project I will use different types of sources such as internet, books, magazines, and of course others people’s experiences, as for my presentation I will write a report wich wil
RESEARCH PROPOSAL
My topic
The topic that I have chosen is domestic (family) Violence, I will be focusing mainly on children and how they will be effected by this act, there are many types of domestic violence they could have long and short term effects on children ,some of the effect can also be for life time . I chose this topic because I have seen a lot of this happening and being done, from my experience male are more likely to creates this types violence in family then female, most parents are unaware that these violence can really hurt their child mentally and emotionally . I will also focus on what can be done to decrease the rate of domestic violence.
The research process
Our class does their journal entry on Wikispace which I think is great to keep record of what we did and will be the step for our research. For my project I will use different types of sources such as internet, books, magazines, and of course others people’s experiences, the librarian helped me with to find two books related to my topic
I will interview police because they are the one who usually deals with this kind of situation I think they will also have the tally of domestic violence in Australia or even in Adelaide from I might find that during past 10 years domestic violence increasing or decreasing and why , they may also know that what problem
I am also thinking to survey students in school, or may be survey my friends online for example face book and then I will produce graphs and tables from the data so the results will be clear to make any assumption about the results. But I need to ask them first if I can use the information for research project to order to make it more ethical. And I will interview one the councilor of our school about student who faces this kind of violence and does this violence effect on student school performance,
If I could find someone who really experienced domestic violence who could talk about his/her feelings and if this affected them in any way will great but I dint think anyone will share this with any other person.

1.Why does domestic violence happen?Because the abuser often has mental illness, stress, alcohol or drugs.
2.why do they have mentall illness ,stress, alcohol. or drugs,
They may have had past problems with thier family or friends.

Week 11
last saterday i sand letter to the police officer but i havn't got a reply yet wich make sme not feel good because before the end the term i want to finish my draft(1500 words report +graphs+pictures+statistics)but i can not do it without interviewing the police, and also i am interviwing the one of the school conceller but i need to ask them first.
our teacher advised that if we normalised our sentences in the Wikispace or journel it would be result in better result and it also sound more formal.
how domestic
woman and children are more often the victims of domestic violence
Becuase it have been a long time that i researched about my hypothesis and when Ms Woud said that it dosnt have methedology i felt davestated and confused all this time iahve been researching anf finding out thing but now i might need to change my topic totally, than i talked to Ms Mcinnnes and she hepled me to think about another hypothesis around this topic she gave idea about the folowing statment, woman and children are more often the victims of domestic violence, then i went to check with Ms Woud weather this hypothesis is right to do ahead with and contineo my research and she approved it .Yes ! . now i have find alots of stef about this one, now i feel good becuase now i know my hypothesis is approved and i can go ahead and i didnt need to change the whole topic which i think some of the students did in the class, i think one of the student was researchong on gay and lesbian topic which was said that is too contriversial for this subject.
I still didn't recieve a reply from police officer. and Ms Mccines told me that i will not able to to do my outcome draft without it so i need to wai tfor thier reply
Term 2
Week 1
since i have changed my reaserch question i need to change my interview questions.
interview questions;
1. How long have you been a serving police officer?
I have been a police officer for about five years working at port Adelaide police station and i started on petrol and recently i have been in in family violence investigation section.
2. What is your official role/title?
My official role is constable of police and i am family violence investigator.
3. I know that from my research that women statistically suffer from higher levels of domestic violence. However, do you think that men who suffer domestic violence are too 'proud' to say they are victims?
i think that is certainly true on some occasion I suppose men are physically stronger than woman and they feel a little embarrassed they say they are the victim of domestic violence but obviously domestic violence can be more satele than physical violence it can be emotional and mental violence and i thing it is true.
4. Do you think that some cultural groups are hesitant in involving the police in issues of domestic violence?
Yes think that is true i suppose it depends on the cultural background and believes and some cultures and believe are different from Australian culture. And behaviours which considered okay in that culture and those costume are sometimes against the law in Australia yes they do feel uncertain about contacting the police they might not know it is even against the what’s is happening to them.
5. Do you think that counselling of people who commit domestic violence is a successful tool?
It certainly van is particularly the offender engages is on board so if they are wanting to engage in that counselling it certainly can be very beneficial I think if they don’t recognise that there is a problem then counselling is probably not as effective they need to recognise that their behaviour is not okay then I think counselling can be very effective.
6. Are the police told that a call out involves domestic violence? And if so do, the police treat the situation differently than 'normal' violence?
When a petrol is tasked to a job they are told that it is a domestic violence if that information is passed to the call centre so sometimes they might some call that droped out and they might sand a petrol to check that might be domestic violence situation they don’t necessarily l know but usually they know that it is domestic violence situation and it is treated very seriously because domestics violence is a serious issue. And in fact an assault a that is again domestic partner is legally speaking a more serious offence then an assault again a stranger.
7. In domestic violence incidents are there different roles for male and female officers - eg female to female
They are not role as such but if have a petrol pairing that you have a male and a female with in the petrol pairing that they go to the domestic violence situation then more often than not the male police officer will speak to male person and female to female person. But obviously sometime the partnership might between two female officer and might be between two male officers so obviously in that situation I it is dealed with what is most appropriate in that time.
8. Do you feel that as a community that there are things we can do to help decrease the rate of domestic violence that is not being currently done?
I think an increased awareness but these are certainty being done so they are TV campaigns and they are counselling services available and are encouraged. I think they a lot being done but there could always be more services available certainly housing is always an issues for victims of domestic violence who need to flee the family home is quite often difficulty finding housing for those people particularly if they are families.
